Pre-Conference Meeting
16/03/18 09:08 by Roland Schmitz (roli)
Now the location for the Pre-Conference meeting is found. Brauhaus im Roten Ochsen, Thurnmarkt 7, 50676 Köln (50.934619° / 6.962749°) where NR.pm regular meets. It is possible, but very expensive, to drop your car directly in front of the pub at the side of the street. In the Wiki you can find a KMZ file, where the pub and car parks are marked. Approximately 200 m to the north is a underground car park "Tiefgarage Heumarkt" which is less exspensive. Approximately 500 m to the south, under the Severinsbrücke (Severins bridge) is another car park, which is free after 18:00 or 18:30.
Due to problems with public transfer between Gummersbach and Cologne, it wold be fine to car-pool. See Wiki

Rail Replacement Transport
14/02/18 17:45 by Jens Rehsack (Sno)
German Rail will have construction work on the track Cologne-Gummersbach during the GPW. This results in app. 35 minutes longer journey. We try to organize a "pickup service" starting in Overath station. This is half the way to Gummersbach, where you otherwhise switch from train to bus. Pleas let us know when do you arrive by public transport (OePNV) in Overath to pick you up if possible, or if you come by car and are willing to pick someone up. When you leave the train, the central bus station is next to track 1, there shoulb be someone willing to pick you up hopefully, or the bus which is the replacement for the rest of your journey with Deutsche Bahn.

Enhanced Offer
14/02/18 17:30 by Jens Rehsack (Sno)
As proposed via Homepage update, the German Perl Workshop 2018 must move from FHDW in Bergisch Gladbach to TH Köln, Campus Gummersbach.
We tried not to interfere with already made room bookings and that was the result. :)
But everything has also a positive side. In this case we have 4 rooms for the entire time from April, 3rd until April, 7th. That means, you can give more talks, we can organize extra workshops on April, 3rd and on the Saturday - April, 7th - we can all together improve the world in a great Perl-Hackathon.
German Perl-Workshop 2018 - Call for Participation
23/10/17 15:54 by Jens Rehsack (Sno)
We, Niederrhein Perl Mongers and Frankfurt Perlmongers e.V., host the 20th German Perl Workshop 04th to 06th April 2017 at the FHDW in Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne/Köln.
The workshop goal is to build new ties in the Perl Community, address newcomers, share knowledge, ... and have fun doing this.
In order to achieve this, we need your help to compose a program consisting of great talks.
We are looking for talks fit for beginners the same as talks for interest of the seasoned perl hack. Perl 5 and Perl 6, with or without a bias towards technicalities. In short, everything that the audience will like. Examples:
- new modules/frameworks
- Perl at work/on the project
- Success stories and those of mishaps
Every day of talks should finish with a series of lightning talk. If you have something to talk about that can be covered in 5 minutes, this is for you.
If you plan to offer a training or a hackathon, or something else that we haven't suggested yet, we will follow the Lama book motto "Making Easy Things Easy and Hard Things Possible" and see if it can be done.
Please submit your talk suggestion on the web site. The deadline is 31th January 2018.
Your abstract should contain roughly 2000 characters (30 vt100 rows w/72 cols), describe the topic, what's special about your way of addressing it and why Perl is (or isn't) well fit to do the job. We will answer your talk submission by 18 February.
For the quick to respond: Perl-Services has offered to cover the conference fee of the first 10 whose talks will be accepted.
