German Perl-Workshop 2018 - Call for Participation

23/10/17 15:54 by Jens Rehsack (‎Sno‎)

We, Niederrhein Perl Mongers and Frankfurt Perlmongers e.V., host the 20th German Perl Workshop 04th to 06th April 2017 at the FHDW in Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne/Köln.

The workshop goal is to build new ties in the Perl Community, address newcomers, share knowledge, ... and have fun doing this.

In order to achieve this, we need your help to compose a program consisting of great talks.
We are looking for talks fit for beginners the same as talks for interest of the seasoned perl hack. Perl 5 and Perl 6, with or without a bias towards technicalities. In short, everything that the audience will like. Examples:

  • new modules/frameworks
  • Perl at work/on the project
  • Success stories and those of mishaps
We plan for 10, 20 and 40 minute talks. If you cannot fit your talk in this, you may want to split it into several parts to fit our schedule.

Every day of talks should finish with a series of lightning talk. If you have something to talk about that can be covered in 5 minutes, this is for you.

If you plan to offer a training or a hackathon, or something else that we haven't suggested yet, we will follow the Lama book motto "Making Easy Things Easy and Hard Things Possible" and see if it can be done.

Please submit your talk suggestion on the web site. The deadline is 31th January 2018.
Your abstract should contain roughly 2000 characters (30 vt100 rows w/72 cols), describe the topic, what's special about your way of addressing it and why Perl is (or isn't) well fit to do the job. We will answer your talk submission by 18 February.

For the quick to respond: Perl-Services has offered to cover the conference fee of the first 10 whose talks will be accepted.
