Some busy hobby/leisure communities have an abundance of event information which is not available in a digital calendar form. The Hash House Harriers, a social non-competitive running & beer drinking club, is one of these. London has at least seven of these clubs, which meet at pubs, and it is popular activity world-wide. None of them, as far as I am aware, export calendar data outside of web pages and emails.
I will go through a real-life example of how I used Perl + SQLite + a Google calendar to get London HHH information into a form that anyone could use to keep track of and find events particularly useful for people who make heavy use of mobile devices and tablets, and for HHH enthusiasts visiting the city.
