I started using Perl over 20 years ago at the Stony Brook Algorithms lab (now known as the Data Science lab), for NLP and computational finance applications as a CS grad student.
I worked on large scale Perl systems frequently after that, mostly in Natural Language / Linguistic Processing at the NY-based Eatoni Ergonomics, a company that specialized in predictive text entry solutions. I am currently working in Manchester, UK as a Principal Developer at SpareRoom, a popular room and roommate-finding service that is mostly Perl-powered. In my spare time I develop software for astronomers and astrophotographers (mainly iOS - details in my astro blog: https://astro.ecuadors.net). |
