Decadon: 10 Years of LPW

What is it?

The London Perl Workshop is a free one-day conference in central London, UK. LPW is the UK's Premier Perl Event and so is also known as the United Kingdom Perl Workshop (UKPW). In 2013 it will be held on Saturday 30th November at Westminster University's New Cavendish Campus.

How Can I Attend, or Present a Talk?

If you would like to come then please log in and register, if you have attended a Perl event recently you will probably already have a login otherwise you will need to create a new user first. You can do this by using the links in the navigation menu to the left of this text.

If you would like to speak then please submit your talk here as soon as possible - the earlier you submit, the more likely your talk is to be accepted.

Is There a Theme?

The theme for the London Perl Workshop will be Decadon: A Decade of the London Perl Workshop. It will focus on the past ten years of the London Perl Mongueurs and the London Perl Workshop, and will focus on the manner in which Perl is used in the commercial world and the strength of Perl for development in an enterprise environment; we would also like to see talks on the usage of Perl in the past 25 years and the evolution of the environment. You can use any aspect of Perl such as Camelia, Rakudo, Raptor, etc. Speakers are invited to talk on any subject that relates to this theme, though we will also accept talks on other subjects.

This year we hope to have access to three Workshop rooms and would like to run as many workshops as possible to introduce new users to the world of Perl and to refresh the skills of those wishing to engage with the latest developments in the Perl world. If you wish to submit a workshop please use the same submission form as the talks, please note that workshops will be 60, 120 or 240 minutes in length.

Proposal Deadline: Friday 25th October 2013
Speaker Notification: Monday 28th October 2013

28/11/13 There's more free stuff?

So in my happy rush to list all that was free yesterday I forgot to mention that we also have free cakes.

Yes the wonderful chaps of Exonetric will be stuffing us full of cakey goodness at the mornings coffee break.

Sorry to miss you out chaps, there was so much to list, but the cake is important!

27/11/13 The Event that just keeps Giving

Everyone should be aware by now that the London Perl Workshop is not just in its anniversary year but is the event that gives a lot to the notion of 'free'.

We have:

* Free presentations

* Free training

* Free coffee in the morning

* Free coffee in the evening

* Free drink at the social in the evening

* Free food at the social

* Free entry (though many donated and for that we are hugely grateful)

However, we don't just stop there, and nor do our sponsors. This year we have a number of free gifts and prizes coming from sponsors:

* Free gift for everyone who registered before 15th November from Bytemark

* Free prize (to anyone) for getting a Perl question right - visit the Eligo stand for a chance to win

* free chance to win one of 10 books from O'Reilly

* two awards (kindles) from AntibodyMX as voted for by the attendees.

So everyone visiting the event now has the chance to walk away with up to three gifts, and the speakers get to fight for the chance for a fourth.

LPW, probably the best event in existence. See you on Saturday.
