Being in the realm of academia and also a perl 6 developer has led me, in a pragmatic way, to try and use Perl 6 to get stuff done and eventually published somewhere, which in academic terms is synonym with done. So after some time, I have used Perl 6 in several ways, from git mining to running evolutionary algorithms.
In this presentation I will tell how bringing a language to the academic world might be of mutual benefit, and of course how Perl 6 can help, through its expressivity, to put algorithmic thoughts clearly to code and through its concurrency to get suff done faster
