Perl 6 is a modern languages, with lots of features, which might make learning it a daunting task, on a par with Haskell or Scala. But, at the same time, its use of Unicode, its generosity of operators and their combinations, and the amount of data structures it includes makes it an excellent choice for teaching programming and computational thinking to beginners, and, for that matter, to dyed-in-the-wool programmers who want to escape the "Hello world" mindset.
In this talk we will advocate for creating material to teach Perl 6 to beginners, and my own experience creating it.
As a bonus track, most of the things that apply to Perl6 apply to Perl 5, too. So eventually what I'm aiming at is to expand the community by opening ourselvest to non-programmers.
