The London Perl Workshop was on Saturday, and it was awesome! If you missed it, or you'd like to reminisce, our Twitter feed has pictures through out the day. Hopefully there will be some write ups posted soon.
As well as getting the talk videos live and actioning your feedback (please fill in your survey, it really helps!) we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who made the day such a success. The attendees, the speakers, the venue and our sponsors - without any one of you it wouldn't have been the same, and in particular we'd like to thank our Platinum Sponsor Booking.com for their support.
Booking.com is a large Perl shop with some of the greatest developers and as a company they sponsor almost all Perl events around the globe to support the Perl community.
They are looking for top talent, to join the international and dynamic Booking.com team in our Headquarters in Amsterdam.
If you are great Perl programmer, or willing to learn Perl, and would you like to be challenged, they offer an extensive relocation package, they take care of your visa and book the trip for you (and for your spouse, if applicable).

Happy Friday! If you are coming to the London Perl Workshop tomorrow, or even if you can't make it tomorrow but are in London today, you are welcome to join the pre workshop social this evening from 18:30 at The Draft House, Seething Lane.
The first few rounds will be courtesy of our fantastic sponsors, so today we'd like to thank Pirum for coming on board this year as a gold sponsor!
Pirum is a small dynamic FinTech company established in 2000, which provides Software-as-a-service the top-tier financial institutions in Securities Lending throughout the world.
Pirum’s SAAS platform is recognised as the “best of breed” in this space year after year, and our ability to provide services which perform faster and are more functionally rich, user friendly and innovative than our competitors is well known. The pre event social will take place on Friday evening at the Draft House Seething Lane from 18:30. Described as "for serious beer connoisseurs", they serve food and other drinks too, it is recommended by our Pub Minion (even though sadly he can't make it).
Thanks to our awesome sponsors there will be some cash for drinks behind the bar at the start of the evening, so we encourage you to arrive early and get LPW 2019 underway!
Find it at 14-15 Seething Ln, London EC3N 4AX
The London Perl Workshop is this Saturday and if you haven't signed up yet, there is still time! We have just published the talk schedule and it is going to be an informative and fun day.
We'd like to thank our sponsors who make it possible for the event to be free to attend, and repeat sponsors such as CV-Library are awesome as they mean we can make the event even better, year on year.
Founded in 2000 and written in Perl since the beginning, CV-Library is the UK's leading independent job board with over 4.3 million unique visitors a month.
CV-Library is proud to be a long time sponsor of LPW and supporter of the Perl community, hosting London.pm technical meetings and contributing code back to CPAN (check our out CPAN and GitHub accounts).
Today the CV-Library platform is modern Perl with microservices and docker containers. Day to day, the dev team deliver high quality features through code reviews, automated tests and continuous deployment.
In our Fleet and London offices, we have opportunities for developers and testers at every level, so please introduce yourself on the day to Paulo, or check out our vacancies and our tech blog.
This morning we published this year's full schedule. We hope it will help you decide which talks to attend.
We’re kicking off our trailers for LPW 2019 with two talks that will improve the code you write!
Dave Cross will be talking about Measuring the Quality of your Perl Code. As Dave says, we'd all like to write "better" code, but how do you know what "better" means, and how do you know how well your current code scores on whatever scale you choose? His talk on the same topic was standing room only at TPC in Riga this year, so be sure to come along to learn about possible measures for the quality of your code and ways to incorporate these into your development process.
Lance Wicks jokes that he "speaks Perl 6, just with a heavy Perl 5 accent". His Perl 6, losing your Perl 5 accent session will describe losing that accent and writing more idiomatic code, making sure you don’t miss out on some of the great parts of Perl 6. This will involve taking some working Perl 6 code written in a Perl 5 style and changing it to be more Perl 6 like - Lance notes that audience participation may be required!
More great talks will be announced soon - the deadline for talks is Monday 30th September so there’s still time to submit a proposal. And if you haven’t yet signed up for LPW 2019, and can make it to central London on Saturday 19th October then register here. It’s free, and it’s going to be a fun day!
The London Perl Workshop is a free one-day conference about Perl and related subjects. This year's event takes place on Saturday 19th October at David Game College near Aldgate and we want you to submit talk proposals.
We want to hear about what you and the people you know have been doing with Perl and related tools. We encourage people of any age, background or circumstance to speak at our conference.
Attendees want to hear about Perl 5, Perl 6 and anything else that might interest people who use Perl.
It's a busy day, so we prefer talks lasting 5, 10 or 20 minutes, but we also accept longer talks. If you want to discuss ideas or have questions, write to us at organisers@londonperlworkshop.org. We're keen to support conventional presentations as well as less common ideas such as speakers presenting together.
Finally, if you like to hear someone in particular talk, please tell us, and encourage the knowledgeable, interesting people you know to submit talks.
We are more likely to accept talks submitted early. See you on the 19th of October!
With great pleasure we would like announce the London Perl Workshop 2019. After 12 years, we're moving on from Westminster University to David Game College, 31 Jewry St, London EC3N 2ET. Thanks to Westminster University for hosting us for so long. We are holding the workshop a little earlier than normal because we wanted to avoid clashing with various other events and not be too close to Xmas. We would like to invite you to join us for one day technical conference on Saturday 19th October 2019.
You could register if you don't already have an account otherwise login and register.
We are also accepting talk proposal now. If you would like to be a speaker at London Perl Workshop 2019 then please submit your proposal as soon as possible.
You are free to pick your favourite technology to talk about whether it is Perl 5, Perl 6 or any other languages/technologies.
Last but not the least, we are looking for sponsors. For more information, please visit the page.
We hope to see you there,
Tom, Lee, Katherine, Julien and Mohammad (the organising team)
