We recently launched the OpenCage geocoder http://geocoder.opencagedata.com a single API to made different geocoders like OpenStreetMap, Geonames, DSTK, Nestoria, etc.
The whole thing is built in perl. I'll talk about the goals of the service, the challenges, the roadmap going forward, etc. I'll also discuss Geo::Address::Formatter a spin off project to correctly format addresses, and if time allows Geo::What3Words
